Create Ripples

Create ripples.

Each time a man stands up for an ideal or acts to improve the lot of others or strikes out against injustice, he sends forth a tiny ripple of hope.” Robert Kennedy

Your daily dose of sanity

It’s time for each of us to create ripples.

Dose #95 of SanityWhat do you stand for? What do you do when no one is looking? Does it matter if people know that it was you who started something or is it enough for you to simply know that whatever you choose to do, there will be ripples (and you may never ever know how you touched someone or changed a situation through one action)?

In the programmed world we live in, where we need to “find” or “make” the time to do things that are important to us like exercising and thinking, it is easy to lose pieces of ourselves. We spend so much time measuring our productivity and efficiency and in all that activity too often we forget why we are measuring it in the first place,

We learn to trust others before ourselves and then we wonder why trust is so low today. It is no secret that many people on the planet today want to live differently and simply don’t know how. Taking that first step is all that is needed but so many are stuck in not knowing which way to go.

Imagine what could happen if you turned down the noise truly find out your own answers to your own questions.

Someone recently shared that she wishes she was not forced to retire at 65 because she wasn’t ready. It was too soon for her to live the expected life of retirement. She still enjoyed her work and felt lost once she no longer had her daily routine. She didn’t even think that she could create another path for herself. She didn’t know how since she had that same job for over 30 years. Imagine, again, if there was one person who could have helped her see the opportunities where she could feel that she was contributing to society and got the structure she was seeking.

I feel there is an important lesson here for each of us to think about how we want to show up and what we want to build or improve.

“What we do in life ripples in eternity.” Marcus Aurelius
